Buddha Jayanti Celebration Main Committee Formed

The Bouddhanath Area Development Committee has formed a 2560th Buddha Jayanti Celebration main committee for celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha which is being celebrated across the country on May 21.

Chairman of the BADC Sampurna Lama is the coordinator of the 25-member main committee which also has the participation of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha, the Bouddha Ghyang Guthi, the Tamang Welfare Trust, the Tusal Youth Club, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, the Bouddha Traffic Police Circle, among other bodies.

Coordinator Lama said that arrangements have been made for circumambulation by devotees at the Bouddhanath Stupa on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti although they cannot allowed to pay homage at the temple as in previous years due to the reconstruction works in progress at the World Heritage Site.

He also said that the relic of the Buddha would be kept on display at the Bouddhanath temple premises for viewing by the devotees this time.

Similarly, a variety of cultural and religious rituals have been planned for the occasion, Lama said.
