Maghe Sankranti Ghyu, Chaaku Festival of Nepal
Maghe Sankranti is a Nepalese Hindu festival observed on the first day of Month Magh, according to the Bikram Sambat Nepali Calender, usaually falls in the mid of the January. Nepalese people celebrate it as the beginning of the holy month of magh.
Hindus take ritual dip in the nearby holy rivers, notably in Bagmati near Patan, Narayani and Devghat in Chitwan, Triveni Dham in Nawalparasi, Ridi in Kaligandaki and Sun Koshi in Dolalghat. The mother of each household wishes good health and properity to all family members with the tika and festive foods like sesame ladoos, ghee and sweet potatoes, molasses and yam.
Makar Sankranti is believed to be ended with the start of winter as sun travels from southernmost position to northern. Magh symbolizes the opening of new festivals and ceremonies and marks halfway to the end of winter in Nepal.

Maghi Festival is the biggest festival of Tharu Community and celebrate joining together and having big feast. The community celebrate the festival as New Year with the great joy and happiness attending together in Mela, dressing up in the traditional Tharu Cultural dress, eating, and drinking.
Taruka, Nuwakot Bull Fighting Festival

Taruka village of Nuwakot hosts bullfighting festival every year on the day of Maghe Sankranti ie mid of January. Every year thousands of people from all over the Nepal observe a Bull fighting festival at Taruka Village. In the recent year, Taruka has been popular for adventure enthusiasts for the witnessing Nepalese style bullfighting where at least 14 pairs of bull butt heads.
The pics you have shared are epic and really informative for newbies in backpacking. I've been there and it was one of the most enjoyable tour of my life. Nepal Trekking Adventure was one of the amazing experience with my friends last year. I wish I would go there again. Thanks for this post.
