Two Nepali Sherpas break Everest summit records
Two professional mountain guides, named as Kami Rita Sherpa and Lhakpa Sherpa broke their own world records for the most Everest summits by a man and a woman on Wednesday.
Kami Rita Sherpa, a 48 year old Nepali mountaineer climbed Mount Everest for 22nd time on wednesday, creating a new record for the most summits of the World's highest mountain, Mount Everest. He became the first man to climb Everest for 22 times while the most summits of the Everest was recorded by Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi sherpa, who were on the top of the world for 21 times. Kami Rita Sherpa started first ascended Mount Everest in 1994 at the age of 24.
Similarly, Lhakpa Sherpa also broke her own record by successfully climbing Mount Everest for the nineth time wednesday becoming the most Everest summits by a woman. She reached on the top of 8848m at 6 am from the North Col (Tibet side).
Legends Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay sherpa set the first step to the top of the world in May 29, 1953 officially. Since then, every year there are hundreds of climbers to the Mount Everest for summit during the climbing season from March to May and September to November.
According to Mingma Sherpa of Seven Summits Treks and Expedition, a Sherpa guide has been missing on Everest's southern side in Nepal since Monday and they are searching for him on the way down.
