Upper Mustang - The Hidden Kingdom of Nepal

Mustang also known as upper mustang is truly a Himalayan lost hidden kingdom of Nepal. Located at western region beyond the two giant Himalayas above 8000m (Annapurna and Dhaulagiri), was officially opened in 1992 for foreign tourist, it is an exhilarating experience hiking upper mustang.

A special permit is required to trek into upper mustang as the Nepal government allows only a limited number of trekkers to protect the serenity of the region.

The culture and lifestyle of Mustangi people has been influenced by neighboring districts of Tibet. Therefore, the people of Mustang follow Buddhism and accumulated Tibetan traditions and norms.

Lo Manthang is the capital of Mustang and the most highlighted city of the trip. It is the distinct part of Nepal where the terrains, landscape, topography and ethnicity arise with accordance to Tibet.

The fascinating tibetan villages, buddhist monasteries, beautiful valleys and majestic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Tukuche and Dhaulagiri will be breathtaking and major highlights of the trekking.
 Apart this, Lomanthang, Muktinath, Kagbeni and Kaligandaki river valley are worth visiting places in Mustang region.

Autumn season from September to November and Spring from March to May are the best months for trekking to mustang as other treks. But you can even trek during the monsoon season as it lies in rain-shadow area of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayas.

During the Spring season, you will have opportunity to witness the biggest festival of mustang region - Tiji Festival which generally falls on May.
