Maha Shivaratri Festival
Maha Shivaratri is one of the most popular festival of Nepalese Hindu people celebrated honoring Lord Shiva, the Lord of all Lords in Hindu Religion. The festival is widely celebrated in various Shiva Shakti Peeths in Nepal, India and Bangladesh. It falls in the month of February/March (Magh/Falgun) on the night of Falgun Krishna Chaturdasi according to Hindu Lunar Calendar. Thousands of deveotees visit the famous shiva shakti peeth Pashupatinath - the main temple in Kathmandu.
Shivaratri is litterally meaning the great night of Shiva where there will be an cultural activity of singing, dancing and fasting. During the festival, married woman pray for the well being and long live of thier husbands whereas unmarried woman pray for a husband like shiva.
